The Ghosts Of Gibbet Wood

Ceolfrid and Aebbe were two children who one day were playing in the hills and woods around their home. They had strayed from their farm and made paths that wound deep into the forests for many years, much to the displeasure of their parents who always warned them to keep the house in view. Both Ceolfrid and Aebbe were very different children. Aebbe was the leader, a young girl who was more tree than girl thanks to the sticks and brambles in her tousled hair. Ceolfrid was the follower and often afraid. He was much less adventurous and yet would follow his sister whenever she went. Whenever he was in trouble, she always made sure they found their way home. One place that neither Ceolfrid or Aebbe had never visited was the one known as Gibbet Wood. The Four Brothers Of Klinter

  Atop Klinter there sit four standing stones that keep watch over the land. These are no simple stones as they tell us a tale of brotherhood and sorrow from a time long before our own.  Back when the land was covered in vast forests and rolling hills that were untouched by us there lived four brothers who made their home in the valleys of Klinter. They would hunt during the day, only taking what they needed from the lands around them, and at night they would sit atop the hill and feast on what they had found.  As the fire crackled and meat roasted the brothers would talk of what they would do when they grew old enough to leave their home. Their mother and father had died many moons ago and the eldest of the brothers had become their leader, telling them that in twenty winters they should venture forth from the safety of their home.
